Need a Better Nights Sleep? How to Shop Better for a Mattress and Bed Frame

Posted on: 23 February 2021

A good night's sleep can be hard to come by; especially if you have a poor mattress and bed frame. Because not all bodies are the same and not all sleepers are the same, there are a few different considerations you will want to make before you go out and make a big purchase.

1. Choose the Right Size Bed Frame

The average bed frame can only hold 500 LBs which means that if you and/or your spouse are overweight, then your bed fame may not be able to support you. Also, if you have little kids who co-sleep with you then you may want some additional support so you don't have to worry about your bed frame getting damaged.

When shopping for a bed frame, it might be wiser to choose a 1050 LB capacity bed frame. These frames offer more support, which means you will be able to move around without having to worry about you or one of your loved ones getting injured in the process.

2. Choose the Right Type of Mattress

Mattresses go on sale all the time, but you don't want to choose a mattress merely based on the price. Considering the fact that you spend a lot of your life sleeping, you want to make sure that your mattress offers you and your spouse the support that both of your bodies need. If you are a back sleeper then having a softer mattress may benefit you whereas if you are a side sleeper then having something firmer may be better for your hips overall.

The tricky thing about choosing a mattress for two people is that oftentimes you and your spouse have different needs. If that's the case then consider choosing a mattress that you can adjust so that you can both sleep as comfortably as possible.

3. Don't Forget the Pillows

Pillows are essentially mattresses for your neck and your head. If you have an unsupportive pillow then your mattress won't be able to adequately do its job. Before picking a pillow, think about what you need from one.

  • Do you get a lot of neck pain?
  • Do you get back pain?
  • Does your head get hot when you sleep?

These are all questions that you will want to ask yourself before you pick a pillow because the answers will help you pick the right pillow for your needs. To learn more, visit a pillow, mattress, and bed frame supplier like Joerns Healthcare.
